Last month I was lucky enough to sit in a downtown Melbourne Café for an interview with the wonderful Esther Gyorki, editor of One Thousand Words [about photography], a new journal of critical essays and reviews on photography. With the dictaphone catching the rhythms of roasting coffee we chatted for over an hour and a half on many subjects – but principally on Picture 1000 Words the exhibition and book (not to be confused with the journal title).
I launched Picture 1000 Words this September passed in collaboration with 13 writers, including Holly Ringland, who Esther also found time to interview last month. The result has just come out in a thoughtful 16-page feature in the current issue of One Thousand Words [about photography] that contains not only our interviews, but also Holly’s short story ‘The Estuary’ and several of my photographs from the project. Check it out, if you dare.
